Dr. John Jefferson Seaberg, Jr

Graduate Scholarship

Application Process

Background On The Endowment

Following Dr. Seaberg’s passing in 2012, his family sought to memorialize his contribution to the field of higher education in the way most fitting of his life—by continuing to help generations of future students. John’s true passion was in guiding his students — not only in their academic endeavors, but also in their lives.

Through the generous contributions of his children, family and The Ivory Foundation, this endowment will stand in perpetuity to ensure that his legacy of enabling leadership research and development of education leaders continues.

Endowment Purpose

The purpose of this endowment is to support graduate student scholarships to students in the field of educational leadership and policy studies who exemplify Dr. Seaberg’s legacy of excellence. Specifically, from those candidates that meet the selection criteria, priority consideration will be given to students whose personal experiences mimic Dr. Seaberg’s.

More specifically, students with non-traditional educational paths who demonstrate expert leadership—whether that be in athletics or other extra-curricular activities—will be the focus of this assistantship. Additionally, those who wish to pursue leadership positions in high school or college programs will be given particular consideration (e.g., students in the IAA).
